Bollywood actor Shreyas Talpade faced a life threatening ordeal when he suffered a heart attack on December 14, 2023, shortly after completing the shoot for his upcoming film, Welcome to the Jungle. The actor recently opened up about the incident, revealing that he was, in fact, “clinically dead” when he was rushed to the hospital after the attack.In an interview with The Times of India, Shreyas shared the details of the alarming incident. Despite having no history of hospitalization, the 47 year old actor mentioned that his family does have a history of heart ailments. He had been experiencing extreme fatigue due to his hectic work schedule in the preceding months, prompting him to undergo several precautionary tests. The actor said, “I was never hospitalised before in my life, not even for a fracture so I didn’t see this coming. Don’t take your health for granted. Jaan hai toh Jahaan hai. An experience like this changes your perspective towards life. I started doing theatre at 16, became a professional actor at 20. For the past 28 years, I have just been focussing on my career. We take our families for granted. We think we have time. As a nation we are not high on preventive care.”Recalling the day of the cardiac arrest, Shreyas revealed that he was engaged in military exercises for the film when he suddenly felt breathless, and his left hand started to pain. He struggled to walk to his vanity van to change clothes before heading home. Once home, his wife, Deepti, noticed his condition and immediately rushed him to the hospital. However, as they reached the hospital gate, Shreyas felt his face go numb and lost consciousness.At the hospital, Shreyas credited the swift response of a few individuals who came to their aid. The medical team administered CPR and electrical shocks to revive him. Shreyas expressed profound gratitude, acknowledging that, clinically, he was dead, and the incident served as a massive wake up call.Describing this experience as a "second chance at life," Shreyas thanked everyone who played a crucial role in saving him, emphasizing his indebtedness to his wife for her prompt actions during the critical moments.
