San Jose Man Charged with Murder After Woman Found Dead on Lanai Avenue

In the early hours of July 15, 2024, San Jose police were called to a home on the 2100 block of Lanai Avenue in the city’s Lanai‑Cunningham neighborhood. Officers found a woman lying on the floor, unconscious and not breathing. Paramedics rushed in, but despite their efforts, she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Later that same night, detectives from the SJPD’s Homicide Unit identified a suspect: Marco Jiménez, 22, a local resident who allegedly knew the victim. Detectives Sergeant Taylor (badge 4257) and Van Brande (badge 4542) said Jiménez was initially detained, released, and then re‑arrested on suspicion of murder.

The Santa Clara County Office of the Medical Examiner released a brief report the following day, July 16, stating the manner of death was homicide. No further details about the cause of death or the victim’s identity have been released, and police have not disclosed a motive. The investigation remains ongoing.

Jiménez has been booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail and is scheduled to appear before the San Jose Hall of Justice on Tuesday at 1:35 p.m. for arraignment. If convicted, he could face a lengthy prison term.
