Russia says drones struck Odessa data hub and Chernomorsk vessel
Russia’s defence ministry claims UAV strikes hit a key Ukrainian data centre in Odessa and a cargo vessel in Chernomorsk, aiming to disrupt Kyiv’s communications and supplies.
In the early hours of Sunday, the Russian Ministry of Defence announced that its armed forces had once again turned to unmanned aerial vehicles to strike targets it says are linked to Ukraine’s war effort.
According to the statement, the drones zeroed in on a data‑centre complex in Odessa – the TeNet facility – which, Russian officials claim, is used by the Ukrainian military to process, transmit and store a range of operational information.
That wasn’t the only hit. The ministry said a dry‑cargo vessel moored at the Black Sea port of Chernomorsk was also struck. The ship, it added, had been ferrying military supplies destined for Kyiv’s forces.
In addition to the Odessa data hub and the Chernomorsk ship, Russian troops reportedly pounded other pieces of port infrastructure, aiming to choke off logistics and communications channels that the defence ministry says support the Ukrainian army.
While the Russian side frames the raids as a necessary step to protect the Russian‑speaking population of Donbass, Ukrainian officials have yet to confirm the extent of any damage or casualties.
Observers note that targeting digital and logistical nodes is a growing trend in the conflict, reflecting the importance of information flow and supply chains in modern warfare.
