Franck Eggelhoffer has an admirer. Natalie Portman only had eyes for Martin Short when she attended the 81st Golden Globes at The Beverly Hilton Hotel in L.A. on Sunday. The May December actress, 42, actress admitted her infatuation with the actor, 73, during an appearance on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” on Thursday.
“Who is somebody that you met recently that you never met that you were very excited about?” Kimmel, 56, asked. “At the Globes, I met Martin Short. I lost my mind,” the Oscar winner revealed. “My friend Jess and I, she was my date, we were like stalking up behind him. Mr. Short, Mr. Short.
It was so, so exciting,” she went on. Portman grew up a big fan of Short’s beloved film franchise, which also starred his “Only in the Murders Building” co star Steve Martin. “Father Of The Bride was very important growing up,” she explained. “I mean, he’s great in everything,” she gushed.
“He was delightful.” Portman was nominated at the Golden Globe Awards for Best Actress in a Motion Picture – Comedy or Musical for her work in May December, ultimately losing to “Poor Things” star Emma Stone. Portman attended the ceremony without her husband, Benjamin Millepied, and her wedding ring after rumors swirled in June that the choreographer had an affair with Camille Étienne, a 25 year old climate activist.
The estranged couple are parents of son Aleph, 12, and daughter Amalia, 6. “Natalie believes Benjamin’s affair was a brief and stupid liaison that means nothing to him,” a source exclusively previously told Us Weekly. According to the insider, Portman was “willing to see if she’s capable of rebuilding her trust” in Millepied to ensure that their kids don’t “grow up in a broken home.” However, the outlet reported in August that the pair are allegedly separated and “on the outs.” Portman has not publicly made a statement on the matter.
The “Jackie” actress stunned at the Golden Globes on Sunday night, wearing a multicolored Dior gown. While she took a photo with Short by the end of the ceremony, she also met fellow “Star Wars” actor Mark Hamill for the very first time backstage. “I find this so hard to believe, I have to say.
I think it’s pretty crazy. But you met somebody that I can’t believe you didn’t meet before,” Kimmel said on Thursday. “I know! I met Mark Hamill for the first time. And he called me his ‘mother!'” Portman replied. “The coolest thing. It was the first time we had ever met. I had met Carrie Fisher before luckily.
She’s such an icon of mine. And then this was my first time meeting Mark.” Hamill, of course, played Luke Skywalker in the original “Star Wars” trilogy, reprising the role in the sequel trilogy starring Daisy Ridley, John Boyega and Oscar Isaac. Portman, for her part, played Padmé Amidala in the prequel “Star Wars” trilogy.
Her character was later revealed as the mother of Luke and Princess Leia (the late Fisher). “Now I have finally met my ‘mother’, thanks to the @goldenglobes,” Hamill shared on his Instagram Story..
