Jodie Foster Thinks Gen Z Can Be ‘Really Annoying’ To Work With: ‘They’re Like, ‘Nah, I’m Not Feeling It Today’

Jodie Foster is glad to provide guidance to budding artists, given that she once stood in their shoes. Starting her career as a child actress, Foster flawlessly transitioned into mature roles. Her main aim is to shield these young artists from the potential harm the industry may cause them. However, she openly confesses that she finds the present generation somewhat exasperating. "They can be quite bothersome, particularly in a professional setting," Foster disclosed in an interview. "For instance, they often dismiss tasks with an excuse like, ‘I'm not feeling it today, I’ll come in at 10.30 am.'” Furthermore, she finds their writing mannerisms perturbing, often correcting their grammar and spelling infractions. But this doesn't deter the actor, now the star of her own show, from championing the younger actors. “I frequently reach out to budding female actors,” she declared. “I feel obligated to, considering how difficult it was for me growing up.” She also reminisces on her own formative years, and the stark contrast in lifestyle and freedom between then and now. She ponders if, as a young actor, she could have had the freedom to not conform to societal beauty standards. "The answer is 'No'," she states, "because we weren't liberated then. We were constrained. The current wave of authenticity, hopefully, brings with it the prospect of true liberty. We had our good times but lived in a deeply divided society." Her lead role series debut on HBO will be on Sunday, Jan. 14. (Via)
