Amelia Mae McCaskill arrived on New Year’s Day at 5:51 a.m. at Regina General Hospital, officially making her the city’s first baby of 2024. She weighed seven pounds, 13 ounces. Her parents — Sarah and Allen McCaskill — are from Regina.
According to Saskatchewan Health Authority, “ everyone is doing well and they send thanks to all of the doctors and nurses at Regina General Hospital.” The wait for Saskatoon’s first baby of 2024 was also longer than previous years. Dawsyn Ivy Fornwald at 1:28 a.m. at Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital, officially making her Saskatoon’s first baby of 2024.
She weighed nine pounds. The first baby born in Regina on Jan. 1, 2023 was named Kaia, and came into the world at 1:09 a.m. at Regina General Hospital. In 2022, baby girl Jemma was born at 1:35 a.m. on Jan. 1, 2022 at Regina General Hospital to parents Jessie and David. In 2021, Regina welcomed its first baby of 2021 at 2:13 a.m.
