Listen to Story After a dominating display of cricket over the Indian Women's cricket team, the captain of the Australian women's team, Alyssa Healy, shrugged off the talks about any kind of "animosity" between her and India captain Harmanpreet Kaur. ''I would probably just summarise it to competitive cricket is going out there, doing our job for the side,'' Alyssa Healy told the reporters.
After India recorded their very first Test win against Australia at the Wankhede stadium, in Mumbai, the Australian side showcased a perfect turnaround and won the following ODI and T20I series by 3 0 and 2 1 margins respectively. After the complete dominance over the month long series against India, when skipper Healy was asked for her take on the perception of any "animosity" between her and Harmanpreet, she laughed it off.
The 38 year old Australian thinks the sole reason behind the talks of "animosity" between her and Harmanpreet is that they approach their roles "differently". ''We both approach it (captaincy roles) very differently, and that's over to her to deal with that. But, from my point of view, there's no animosity there,'' Alyssa said after Australia's victory.
Notably, both Harmanpreet and Healy got involved in a heated moment at the crease during the one off Test between India and Australia in Mumbai. Harmanpreet, in an attempt to run Healy out, threw the ball at the height of Healy's head, which was then blocked by the Aussie skipper with her bat. The save by Healy marked a heated follow up when the Indian skipper appealed for obstruction of field, only to be denied by the on field umpires.
''I'm all for, you know, if I need to be given a send off, then so be it. I'm all for it because at the end of the day, I'm chirpy behind the stump. So if you're willing to dish it out, you've got to be able to cop it,'' The whole scene sparked lot of banter around the series about the two skippers having aggression or "animosity" towards each other.
However, her post match comments suggest that there is nothing of such sort..
