In a rather unexpected, yet resourceful, 10,000-square-foot spot: right there in the parking-garage level of the bustling downtown Phoenix Hyatt Regency. Talk about making the most of your space!

Funding, as it always is for such ventures, was crucial. Thankfully, the vision found generous support early on from Stevie and Karl Eller, who helped kick things off with contributions stemming from their very own Swensen's Ice Cream Store right in the heart of downtown. Fast forward a bit, to 1997, and the Arizona Science Center was ready for its next big leap – a spectacular one, at that! It moved into its breathtaking, custom-built home, a truly iconic 120,000-square-foot structure located prominently at 600 E. Washington St. This isn't just any building; it's a masterpiece of design, imagined by the renowned architect Antoine Predock. Since then, the center has only continued to grow and innovate. Take, for instance, the addition of CREATE at Arizona Science Center®, which brought an exciting 18,000 square feet of dedicated maker space, really pushing the boundaries of interactive learning and invention. Over the past three decades, this dynamic hub has welcomed an astounding half-million-plus guests each year, and perhaps most importantly, nearly 140,000 schoolchildren.
