What started, by all accounts, as a mere disagreement among customers spiraled shockingly out of control, culminating in a frightening brawl and, incredibly, a shooting.

The whole chaotic scene unfolded around 1:20 p.m. at the Dollar Tree located at 1285 W. Renaissance Parkway. Imagine being there, just trying to grab a few things, when suddenly an argument among patrons escalates from heated words to a full-blown physical altercation. It's just awful to think about, really, how quickly things can go from bad to worse, even in the most mundane of settings.

During the struggle, a weapon was apparently brandished, and tragically, an adult male suffered a gunshot wound to the leg. Thankfully, and this is a relief to hear, his injuries weren't life-threatening, and he's expected to recover. Marckese Jermaine Taylor, a 35-year-old individual, and Brittany Williams, 32, were both taken into custody.
