Delhi Horror: Delivery Agent Dies After Being Hit, Dragged by Car Driven by Minor

A chilling incident in South Delhi has once again cast a harsh light on road safety and the devastating consequences of reckless driving, particularly involving minors. In the early hours of Sunday morning, 32-year-old Suresh, a dedicated delivery agent, met a tragic end after being hit and then dragged for several hundred meters by a speeding car allegedly driven by a 17-year-old minor.

The horrific event unfolded near the bustling IIT-Delhi area.

Suresh, on his bike, was navigating the city streets, likely on his way to or from a delivery, when his life was abruptly cut short. The car, occupied by the minor driver and two of his friends, was reportedly moving at a high speed, losing control and colliding with Suresh's two-wheeler.

What followed was an act of shocking negligence and callousness.

Instead of stopping to assist the injured man, the driver and his companions allegedly panicked and fled the scene. Suresh became entangled with the vehicle and was dragged for a horrifying distance of approximately 200-300 meters before finally dislodging from the car. He sustained grievous injuries and succumbed to them on the spot, leaving behind a family shattered by the sudden loss.

Police were alerted to the abandoned vehicle shortly after the incident.

Through swift investigation, they managed to trace and apprehend the 17-year-old driver and his two friends. The initial probe revealed that the group was joyriding at an excessive speed, leading to the fatal collision. Cases have been registered under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, including 279 (rash driving or riding on a public way) and 304A (causing death by negligence).

Given the driver's age, the minor has been sent to an observation home as legal proceedings commence.

This tragic incident serves as a grim reminder of similar cases, particularly those involving hit-and-drag scenarios that have shocked the nation in the past.
