Cyclist’s body found down Eagle County highway embankment days after hit and run crash

The body of a cyclist was found down an embankment two days after they were killed in a hit and run crash along U.S. 6 in Eagle County, according to the Colorado State Patrol. State troopers responded to reports of a body found down an embankment off the side of U.S. 6 near Edwards at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Investigators determined the person was a cyclist who was struck and killed by a driver sometime between 12:30 and 2 a.m. Sunday. The driver left the scene, and investigators believe the bicycle was removed from the area, according to a Colorado State Patrol news release. The cyclist’s identity has not been released.

The vehicle involved in the crash is believed to be a white 2010 2012 Subaru Legacy or Outback, likely with damage to the front passenger side. Anyone with information about the crash can call Colorado State Patrol dispatch at 970 945 6198 and reference case number 4C240104..
