BJP Rolls Out ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’ to Mark PM Modi’s 25‑Year Milestone

New Delhi – On Wednesday, BJP national president Nitin Nabin stood before a swarming press room and introduced a month‑long outreach programme titled “Seva Sankalp Abhiyan”. The campaign is set to launch on 17 September, which also happens to be Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday.

That first day has been christened “Seva Diwas”. Across the length and breadth of the country, party workers, volunteers and ordinary citizens will line up at hospitals for a massive blood‑donation drive. It’s a simple idea – give a little of yourself to celebrate a leader who, according to the BJP, has given a lot to the nation.

Alongside the donation camps, the party will light “Ashirwad Ka Diya”, a symbolic lamp‑lighting ceremony meant to thank the Prime Minister for what the BJP describes as a quarter‑century of “selfless service”. Social media posts on X (formerly Twitter) show pictures of the glowing lamps, with hashtags urging people to share their own stories of gratitude.

The schedule does not stop there. On 2 October, the BJP’s annual cleanliness drive – a staple of its “Swachh Bharat” messaging – will be rolled out again, this time branded as part of the Seva Sankalp series.

Perhaps the most visually striking event is slated for 7 October, the exact day Modi will complete 25 years as a minister and, ultimately, as the country’s head of government. The party calls it the “Seva Jyoti Kalash Yatra”. A convoy of brightly painted Kalash‑carrying trucks will traverse major highways, accompanied by bike rallies and foot‑marches (padayatras) that invite participants to pledge support for a “Viksit Bharat”.

Speaking at the press conference, Nabin peppered his remarks with statistics that sound almost like a litany: “Over 25 crore families have been lifted out of poverty under Narendra Modi’s stewardship; India has moved from the fragile‑five club to a fast‑growing economic powerhouse.” He also highlighted “women‑led development” and the “new hope” offered to India’s youth.

Critics, of course, will point out that numbers can be interpreted in many ways, but for the BJP the message is clear – this is a celebration of a leader whose tenure they view as a turning point for the country.

The campaign runs until early October, and the party says it hopes the mix of service activities, symbolic gestures and community rallies will not only honour Modi’s past but also inspire a fresh wave of civic participation across the nation.
