Ariana Grande is planning to release a new single, "yes, and?" on Friday, January 12th. The track is anticipated as the lead single from her seventh album. Prior to the announcement, the singer had sparked speculation among her fans that "yes, and?" would be the title of her next single, after she was photographed wearing a sweatshirt bearing this phrase. The rumors were further fueled by a video that Grande posted on Instagram, depicting her mother Joan grooving to an unreleased track. Fans deciphered that Joan was mouthing the words "yes, and?" and started to circulate this theory.
Adding credibility to the rumors, Joan reportedly liked a tweet that read, "ariana grande teasing her comeback single ‘yes, and?’”. The post was shared on Grande's official Instagram handle (@arianagrande).
In addition to the music, the pop star also offered a glimpse into her personal journey in 2023. While expressing her utmost pride, joy and love experienced that year, Grande also underlined feeling "so deeply misunderstood by people who don’t know me”. The post was written in response to baseless concerns over her body image raised by some TikTok users.
Highlighting another interesting update about her upcoming album, Grande hinted at the involvement of producer Ilya Salmanzadeh. Salmanzadeh has worked on several chart-topping Grande numbers including ‘Problem’, ‘Bad Idea’, ‘breathin’ and ‘Santa Tell Me’.
The yet-to-be-named seventh album is set to follow 'Positions', her 2020 album that received a three-star rating from NME. Even though the album was enjoyable, some of the tunes' pensive lyrics were somewhat at odds with the upbeat melodies, paving the path to an era in her career that was substantial, but somewhat lacking in her signature sparkle.
In other recent developments, Grande has inked a new management contract after ending her decade-long association with former manager Scooter Braun in August 2023.
