A New Dawn for Affordable Living: Nearly 200 Homes Underway in Southwest Calgary

Calgary is celebrating a significant milestone in addressing its housing challenges as construction officially commences on a groundbreaking $57.7 million affordable housing project in the heart of Currie, Southwest Calgary. This ambitious development, spearheaded by HomeSpace Society, promises to deliver 198 much-needed homes, offering a beacon of hope and stability to nearly 300 individuals and families across the city.

The project, strategically located at 3450 and 3460 Flanders Avenue S.W., marks a crucial step forward in fulfilling Calgary's urgent need for diverse and accessible housing options.

With an anticipated completion in 2025, these two purpose-built buildings are designed not just as residences, but as vibrant communities, integrating seamlessly into the existing Currie neighbourhood.

A testament to powerful collaboration, this initiative is a direct result of the RESOLVE Campaign, a visionary partnership involving HomeSpace Society, the City of Calgary, and the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC).

Funding for the project is robust, with the City of Calgary contributing $14.2 million, CMHC providing $31 million, and the RESOLVE Campaign securing $12.5 million.
