Prominent BJP figures like K. Laxman, a national president of the OBC Morcha, voiced strong objections, asserting that Reddy had, in their view, 'disrespected' Hindu deities. They weren't alone; Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy and former Minister Etala Rajender also joined the chorus, accusing the Congress of what they termed 'appeasement politics' and demanding an immediate, unequivocal apology from the Chief Minister. The sentiment among the BJP was clear: this was not just a political gaffe, but a fundamental affront to religious belief, deliberately designed to score political points.

In a country where religious identity and sentiment play such a pivotal role in public life, comments like these, particularly when made by a sitting Chief Minister, tend to generate significant ripples.
