Apple might not have been at CES, but became one of the biggest pieces of news during the week. If you are still intimidated by Vision Pro's $3,500 price tag, Xreal's latest gadget might be more up your alley. As part of its announcements, the Xreal Air 2 Ultra is a pair of AR Wayfarer shaped glasses retailing at $700.
It features a Micro OLED panel made by Sony with a refresh rate of up to 120Hz. The resolution is 1080p per eye and includes a 52 degree field of view (FOV), according to Xreal. Regarding compatibility, the Xreal Air 2 Ultra will work on computers running MacOS or Windows operating systems, plus handheld gaming PCs, most notably the Steam Deck.
But the device is compatible with Samsung made Android smartphones (Xreal is working on Google Pixel support) and the iPhone 15 series. As you'd expect, these glasses can be used to screen mirror devices with USB C and HDMI outputs, allowing for those to have a big screen for their compatible devices, or if all the TVs in your house are preoccupied.
But much like the Apple Vision Pro, the Air 2 Ultra is aimed more at developers, according to Xreal, with the $400 Air 2 more in line with consumers. Xreal's Air 2 Ultra glasses are slated to ship sometime in March, but you can preorder the device now..
