Listen to Story Australia's star opener, David Warner, made a Hollywood style entry to the Sydney Cricket Ground ahead of the BBL 2023 24 clash between Sydney Thunder and Sydney Sixers. Warner arrived in a spectacular fashion via a chopper and made a grand entrance to the outfield. Warner directly arrived at the stadium after attending his brother's wedding.
The helicopter touched down on the outfield, near the iconic 'Thanks Dave' logo, painted against Shan Masood's Pakistan After fulfilling his family commitments, Warner is gunning to make an impact on the field during his short stint with Sydney Thunder. "I've done my utmost best to get down here and hopefully put some runs on the board," Warner said while speaking on 7 cricket.
"I might look like a bit of a goose if I don't get any runs, but it's my contribution to not just the BBL but Australian cricket. I want to be out here. I want to entertain. I want to try and help our team win the next three games," Warner added. Warner, who secured a substantial two year deal with Thunder last season, is set to make one of three appearances after his retirement from Test cricket.
Despite Thunder having a slim chance of qualifying for the knockouts, Warner will be absent from those matches due to his commitment to play in the ILT20 in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). He will be representing Dubai Capitals in the T20 league. Post his emotional retirement from Tests and ODIs for Australia, Warner is keeping himself busy by being involved in the shortest format of the game.
He is also expected to play the T20I series for Australia against the West Indies, with Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 to follow next..
