Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami Discusses Arrest of State Native in Delhi's Hauz Khas Fire Case

New Delhi – On Tuesday, Uttarakhand’s chief minister, Pushkar Singh Dhami, picked up the phone and spoke with senior police official Amit Gupta about a case that has been making headlines across the capital. The conversation centred on the recent arrest of a man from Uttarakhand who is alleged to have been involved in the tragic fire that ripped through a residential building in Delhi’s Hauz Khas area.

Dhami, who hails from Dehradun, said he was "deeply concerned" about the incident and wanted to ensure that the investigation proceeds without any hiccups. "I have spoken to Mr. Gupta to understand the status of the case and to assure him that the state machinery will extend every possible assistance," the chief minister told reporters after the call.

According to the police, the suspect was taken into custody on Thursday night after a thorough forensic sweep of the crime scene linked him to the fire. While the investigation is still in its early stages, the authorities have not released detailed evidence, prompting a flurry of media speculation.

Dhami stressed the importance of due process. "No one is above the law, but at the same time, everyone deserves a fair trial. We will see that legal aid is provided and that the accused’s rights are respected," he said, adding that the Uttarakhand government would monitor the case closely.
