Two youths stabbed in Burnaby on New Year's Eve

Article content Two youths were stabbed during a group fight near the Gilmore SkyTrain station in Burnaby around 1 a.m. on Jan. 1, RCMP say. “When police arrived, most of the group had dispersed, but two male youths with stab wounds were located,” said Cpl. Mike Kalanj of the Burnaby RCMP detachment.
“Both victims were transported to hospital with non life threatening injuries.” A knife, pepper spray and a baton were all seized at the scene. In Vancouver, large crowds thronged Granville Street and the downtown core, Sgt. Steve Addison of the VPD said. “New Year’s is always one of the busiest nights of the year for our officers, because thousands of people come to Vancouver from surrounding municipalities to celebrate,” he said.
“(Sunday) night was no exception. “The atmosphere was festive and there were no major public safety incidents.” In Dawson Creek, the RCMP’s North District major crime unit is assisting the local detachment investigate a suspicious death after a red Dodge Caliber with a dead man inside was discovered at 17th Street and 116th Avenue, Staff Sergeant Kris Clark of E Division said.
RCMP ask anyone with information regarding this red Dodge or this investigation to contact the Dawson Creek RCMP at (250) 784 3700. Police are not releasing further information, Clark said..
