It could be Jabari Walker’s turn to miss a game for the Portland Trail Blazers. The forward is listed as doubtful for the Friday night’s game at the Dallas Mavericks (20 15). Should Walker (left knee soreness) not play, that would leave Matisse Thybulle as the only player on the roster to have appeared in every game this season for the Blazers (9 24).
Walker injured his knee in the third quarter of Wednesday’s 126 97 loss at the Mavericks. After the game, he said the knee felt sore but he thought treatment would go well. While on the way out of Thursday’s practice, Walker said he felt better than he did the night before. “He is day to day,” Blazers coach Chauncey Billups said.
The Blazers, two games into a seven game trip, have been dealing with a long list of injuries lately. Shaedon Sharpe (adductor strain) returned Monday. Anfernee Simons (illness) and Duop Reath (lower back strain) returned at the Mavericks. All three were on minutes restriction that could continue Friday, Billups said.
Center Deandre Ayton, not yet on the trip, will miss his sixth game with right knee tendinitis. “He’s pretty much day to day,” Billups said. “He is still working on it. We’re going to get some more information on it soon.” Ayton is undergoing treatment in Portland and is expected to join the team once he is ready to return to the court.
