On Wednesday night, a police officer was wounded as terrorists unleashed gunfire on a search party in a village within the Gandoh area of Jammu and Kashmir's Doda district. The incident unfolded around 7:41 p.m. when security forces, responding to reports of gunfire from Bhalesa's Kota top area, retaliated swiftly. Subsequently, a fierce exchange of gunfire erupted between the security personnel and the terrorists, with the encounter ongoing at the time of the latest reports.
To bolster the cordon and intensify the operation, reinforcements have been swiftly deployed to the location. This marks the fourth terror-related incident in just three days in Jammu and Kashmir, and the second in Doda within the previous 24 hours.
Earlier on Tuesday evening, in a separate incident, five members of the Rashtriya Rifles and a Special Police Officer sustained injuries in a terrorist attack at Chattargalla Pass. Moreover, late on Tuesday in the Kathua district, security forces engaged and neutralized a suspected terrorist from Pakistan. The overnight encounter concluded on Wednesday with the elimination of a second terrorist; however, tragically, a CRPF jawan lost his life during the operation.
This recent surge in terrorist activities comes on the heels of a shocking incident on Sunday, where terrorists targeted a pilgrimage bus in Reasi, causing it to plunge into a deep gorge. The attack resulted in nine fatalities and left 41 others injured.
