WWE had a thrilling 2023 and this year is set to be even better with Triple H fully at the helm of creative. The Royal Rumble is just a few weeks away, and thus the reveal of WWE 2K24 should be imminent, too.

A leak claims to reveal the , and, if this leak is true, then they could potentially be the new Showcase mode star judging by the series’ tradition. was a great installment for the franchise. Ever since the diabolical 2K20 the series has been on a roll with each iteration building upon excellent foundations.

However, with 2K24, there is a feeling that more needs to be delivered. We hope for even more new match types, as well as more new modes, much better online servers, and even better visuals and presentation. While very little has been revealed about the game other than it coming out around WrestleMania time, a leak has possibly unearthed the WWE 2K24 cover athlete.

The leaked WWE 2K24 cover athlete star is Cody Rhodes. This comes courtesy of prominent insider on Twitter as shared by the community on Reddit. Cody Rhodes makes sense as he is the company’s number one merchandise mover, but it’s also an odd choice if he is the Showcase mode star. Rey Mysterio was the cover star in 2K22 and John Cena was the face of 2K23.

Both legends were also the Showcase mode stars for their respective games. If 2K continues this tradition with Cody, then it’s a bit of an underwhelming choice on paper. Legacy is impossible to cover without Ted Dibiase Jr., the games also don’t include Damien Sandow, and there are several other missing stars from some of Cody’s biggest matches when he was Intercontinental Champion.

Also, to be blunt, the story of Cody Rhodes really isn’t that interesting prior to his departure. It’s only his exodus away from WWE and his return that has made him a legend of the sport. If Cody Rhodes is the cover athlete, it’s possible he might not be the Showcase star as 2K could easily celebrate 40 years of WrestleMania instead.

Or, in what could be for the better, Showcase could possibly be dropped entirely for a new mode. Of course, nothing is official as of writing. WWE 2K23 was first revealed on January 23rd with the Royal Rumble happening on January 28th. Again, nothing is official, but we’d expect WWE 2K24 to similarly be announced before the Royal Rumble on January 28th again.
