Listen to Story Shaheen Shah Afridi did not get off to the best of starts as the skipper of the Pakistan T20I team after New Zealand’s Finn Allen took him to the cleaners in the first T20I at Eden Park in Auckland. After Pakistan opted to field first, Shaheen picked up the wicket of Devon Conway in his first over and gave away only a solitary run.
Just when it seemed that the speedster was at his best, Allen came to the party and smashed him all around the park. In his second over, Shaheen leaked 24 runs as the Black Caps raced to 30 for 1 in three overs. On the first ball, the bowler went for a Yorker, but got his radar completely wrong. It turned out to be a half volley and Allen deposited the ball into the stands for a massive six.
Finn Allen smashed 6,4,4,4,6 against Shaheen Afridi 24 runs from the over. Thereafter, Allen drove Shaheen past mid off to collect a four. On his next ball, Shaheen tried for a full length delivery and Allen was up to the task, hitting him for a four through the fine leg region. On the fourth ball, Shaheen dished out a half volley that was hit through the covers for a four.
Allen did not stop there and spanked the Pakistan speedster for another six, making it 24 runs off the first five balls. Shaheen finished the over with a dot ball, but the damage was already done by then. Allen went on to score 35 runs off 15 balls with the help of three fours and as many sixes. Debutant Abbas Afridi got his wicket after Allen and skipper Kane Williamson put on 49 runs for the second wicket..
