Samsung plans to focus on performance, quality, and generative AI in 2024

The arrival of the New Year is a perfect opportunity to set new resolutions, and Samsung couldn't agree more. The tech giant's New Year plans have been shared by co-CEO and Vice Chairman Han Jong Hee and co-CEO and President Kyung Kye Hyun, in a joint New Year’s communiqué. They outlined the company's key initiatives for the forthcoming year, focusing especially on the drive to develop "super gap technologies" to maintain Samsung's leading position in 2024 and beyond. The company aims to fortify its standing through "technological superiority and adaptability to future fluctuations".

The executives have underscored a "customer-first" approach for Samsung's mobile, home appliances, and software segments, prioritizing performance and quality. They also encouraged the tech company's chip-making business to fortify its market presence by widening the technological chasm with its archrivals.

Apart from this, the executives advocated for proactive steps to keep pace with future shifts in the tech world, such as AI, eco-conscious practices, and "lifestyle innovation", though the precise meaning of this term remains nebulous. Intriguingly, they suggest an implementation of generative AI into workplace procedures.

The statement read: "We ought to revolutionize our work methods and device usage by incorporating generative AI into work. We must transition from the reactive green policies of the past, transforming our mindset to envisage the green products of future". Predictably, Samsung's upcoming Galaxy S24 series is expected to greatly rely on AI, ensuring mobile division's alignment with this goal.
