Bayern Munich has been linked to Fulham FC midfielder João Palhinha since last summer and it seems like the Portuguese star still wants to make the move to Bavaria. However, Bayern Munich could have a wandering eye and might actually prefer Real Sociedad’s Martin Zubimendi: João Palhinha remains hopeful of a move to Bayern this month.
Bayern, on the other hand, would rather spend big on Tuchel’s priority target Ronald Araújo. As of now, there’s no breakthrough regarding a January move for the Uruguayan defender. Should a move for Araújo fall through, the money would be available for Palhinha. Fulham are expecting Bayern to make another attempt for Palhinha soon.
If the Portuguese midfielder ends up not moving to Munich in January, Bayern’s focus in the position would switch to Martín Zubimendi and his €60m release clause in the summer. Interestingly, Tuchel appears to have his heart set on FC Barcelona ’s Ronald Araújo for the future of his backline.
However, there is no indication on whether or not the Uruguayan would even entertain such a move.
