John, a resident of Macungie, formerly of Allentown, leaves behind a legacy defined by unwavering dedication to his family, valiant service to his country, and steadfast commitment to his community.
For 57 beautiful years, John shared an unbreakable bond with his beloved wife, Loretta (Moyer) Karwolski.
Their enduring marriage was a testament to love, partnership, and mutual support, forming the bedrock of their family. Together, they raised two children who brought immense joy to his life: Kevin J. Karwolski, and his wife Lisa, and Michele L. Karwolski-Wartman, and her husband Paul Wartman. John's spirit will forever live on through his four adoring grandchildren: Michael Karwolski, Brian Karwolski, Alexa Wartman, and Rachel Wartman, who were the light of his later years.
Before dedicating himself to public service, John honorably served his country as a proud veteran of the United States Air Force.
His courageous contributions during the Vietnam War exemplified his deep sense of duty and patriotism, shaping him into the resilient and principled man he became.
Following his military service, John continued his commitment to protecting others as a distinguished firefighter for the Allentown Fire Department.
For 25 years, he bravely served the citizens of Allentown, responding to emergencies with courage, skill, and compassion. He retired in 1999, having earned the respect and admiration of his colleagues and the gratitude of the community he so faithfully protected. In addition to his firefighting career, John was also a skilled truck driver for various companies, showcasing his versatility and strong work ethic.
Beyond his professional life, John found immense joy in a variety of passions.
He was an avid golfer, always eager to hit the links and enjoy a challenging round. Bowling was another favorite pastime, where his competitive spirit shone through. Perhaps most cherished were his annual fishing trips to Canada with his close friends, moments filled with camaraderie, laughter, and the simple pleasures of nature.
A proud alumnus of Central Catholic High School, Class of 1962, John carried the values instilled in him throughout his life.
John was preceded in death by his loving parents, John and Catherine (Dougherty) Karwolski, and his sister, Patricia A. Karwolski, whose memories he held dear. He is survived by his devoted sister, Nancy C.
(Karwolski) Moyer, who shared a lifetime of memories with him.
A Funeral Mass will be held to celebrate John's life at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, August 23, 2023, at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 1040 Flexer Ave., Allentown, PA 18103. Friends and family are invited to pay their respects during calling hours on Tuesday, August 22, 2023, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Stephens Funeral Home, Inc., 274 N.
Krocks Rd., Allentown, PA 18106, and again on Wednesday morning from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM in the church. John will be laid to rest with full military honors at Resurrection Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests memorial contributions be made in John’s honor to the American Cancer Society, P.O.
