It is with profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of David M. Lombardi, a cherished husband, devoted father, adored grandfather, and respected community member, who departed from us on Friday, March 29, 2024, at the age of 87. David, a resident of South Windsor and formerly of Glastonbury, leaves behind a legacy defined by unwavering dedication, quiet strength, and an abundance of love that touched countless lives.

At the heart of David’s world was his beloved wife of 63 years, Eleanor (Russo) Lombardi.

Their enduring bond was a testament to true partnership and affection. Together, they built a beautiful life and a loving family. David was a devoted father to his late son, David A. Lombardi, and his daughter, Lauren (Lombardi) Clark, and her husband Matthew. His role as a grandfather brought him immense joy, and he treasured every moment spent with his grandchildren, Matthew and Kristen Clark, instilling in them values of kindness and perseverance.

Born to the late Anthony and Ann (Amoroso) Lombardi, David grew up in a supportive family environment.

He was a proud graduate of Hartford Public High School, Class of 1954, where he laid the groundwork for his future endeavors. His pursuit of knowledge continued at the University of Hartford, from which he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration in 1958. For an impressive 40 years, he was the proud owner and operator of The Elmwood Cleaners in West Hartford. Through his diligent work and meticulous attention to detail, he built a thriving business and became a familiar, trusted face in the community. Before embarking on his entrepreneurial journey, David honorably served his country as a veteran of the U.S.

Army, a period that undoubtedly shaped his disciplined approach to life and work.

Beyond his professional life, David possessed a vibrant spirit and a keen enthusiasm for several passions. He was an ardent fan of UConn basketball, especially the women's team, rarely missing a game and celebrating their triumphs with genuine excitement.

His loyalty also extended to the Boston Red Sox, a team he followed through thick and thin. David found immense pleasure in the simple beauty of nature, dedicating countless hours to gardening, landscaping, and meticulously maintaining his immaculate yard—a true reflection of his desire for order and beauty in his surroundings.

Those who knew David will remember him for his hard-working nature, his profound kindness, his humble demeanor, and his generous spirit.

He was a man of integrity, whose actions consistently spoke louder than words. His greatest joy was found in the company of his beloved family, for whom he would do anything. His legacy is not just one of professional achievement, but of a life well-lived, full of love, dedication, and an enduring example of how to face life with grace and purpose.
