Remembering Bonnie Lee Carrie Fullmer: A Life of Dedication, Love, and Community Spirit

Aurora bid a fond farewell to Bonnie Lee Carrie Fullmer, a cherished lifelong resident whose vibrant spirit and unwavering dedication touched countless lives. Bonnie passed away peacefully on January 13, 2024, at the age of 79, leaving behind a legacy of love, service, and cherished memories.

Born on November 22, 1944, to Herbert and Laura (Pauley) Carrie, Bonnie grew up embedded in the fabric of the Aurora community.

She proudly graduated from East Aurora High School with the Class of 1962, forging friendships and a foundation that would last a lifetime. Her professional journey included working for Commonwealth Edison and Farmers Insurance, where her diligence and friendly demeanor shone through.

However, it was Bonnie’s tireless commitment to volunteerism that truly defined a significant part of her life.

For many years, she dedicated her time and energy to Presence Mercy Hospital (now Ascension Mercy), becoming an invaluable member of the Hospital Auxiliary. Her leadership was evident as she served as president multiple times, demonstrating her passion for helping others and enhancing the hospital experience.

Her extraordinary efforts did not go unnoticed, earning her the prestigious “Volunteer of the Year” award, a testament to her generous heart.

Beyond her hospital service, Bonnie was a devout and active member of New Life Lutheran Church. She contributed significantly to various committees and groups, enriching the church community with her participation and thoughtful contributions.

Her faith was a cornerstone of her life, guiding her actions and interactions.

Bonnie’s life was also filled with joy and simple pleasures. She found immense happiness in traveling, exploring new places and creating lasting memories. A lover of the arts, she frequently attended theatre productions, reveling in the magic of live performances.

Dining out with loved ones was another favorite pastime, offering opportunities for laughter and connection. Above all, Bonnie cherished time spent with her beloved family and friends, whose company brought her the greatest contentment. A true fan, she passionately supported her Chicago Cubs and Bears, celebrating their victories and standing by them through every season.

Bonnie’s enduring love story began 58 years ago when she married Robert F.

Fullmer, who survives her. Together, they built a beautiful family, creating a home filled with warmth and affection. She was a devoted mother to Laura (Tom) Proesel and Melissa (Brian) Kackert. Her role as a grandmother brought her immense delight, and she leaves behind a loving circle of grandchildren: Joshua (Amy) Proesel, Jacob (Jessica) Proesel, Haley Proesel, Ben (Ashley) Kackert, and Tyler Kackert.

The joy of her life extended to her great-grandchildren: Charlotte, Max, Graham, Finn, Parker, Noah, and Aubrey, who will carry her memory forward.

Bonnie is also survived by her loving sister, Carol (Rich) Gieser, and many nieces and nephews who will dearly miss her presence. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, George Carrie.

As we remember Bonnie, we celebrate a life lived with purpose, kindness, and an unwavering commitment to her community and family. Her legacy will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her.
