Razer Blades is truly striving to redefine the limits of aesthetics, speed, and size for gaming laptops. The brand offered a sneak peek of the screen of its forthcoming Razer Blade 16 and a new 18-inch model. However, the smaller version appears to be hogging all the limelight. The upcoming Razer will deliver 240Hz on a 16-inch OLED Samsung screen, making it the first announced laptop of 2024 seeking to set a new benchmark for refresh rate in a condensed design. The latest release of the Razer Blade 16, with a refresh rate of 240Hz, offers a 0.2ms pixel response time. While it doesn't promise 4K, it does serve up a QHD+ resolution of 2560x1600. Razer has noted that the screen is VESA certified ClearMR11000 and DisplayHDR True Black 500, which ideally provides impressive sharpness and color vibrancy. Razer doesn't need to totally reinvent the product, judging by its robust specifications and stunning display, it's great to see they are not simply rehashing the same laptop with minor improvements. Details about the upcoming laptop's full specifications will be unveiled at CES next week. Meanwhile, this year places special emphasis on screens, with pushes for higher refresh rates on higher resolutions. Clearly, Razer hopes to set itself apart from competitors. This takes us to the updated 18-inch Razer Blade, which is certainly not lagging behind in terms of display quality. It features a 4K display with a refresh rate of 165Hz and a 3ms pixel response time, and assures minimal lag and elimination of screen tearing with Nvidia G-Sync feature. This is a new approach compared to last year's model fitted with a 240Hz QHD+ display. It essentially boils down to personal preference. At the end of the day, we still have reservations, albeit heading in the appropriate direction. With regards to portable gaming, a 16-inch already challenges the capacity of your average backpack. The predecessor was already a struggle, but Razer's 18-inch giants may still require a substantial effort to lift if you plan to take the gaming beast outdoors - attaching wheels and a leash could be the solution. One could simply argue it's a large dachshund adopted from a local shelter. Either way, more details will be available at CES next week - so, stay connected.
