Old friends have turned rivals, with quarterback Matthew Stafford returning to Detroit as a member of the Rams. There should be plenty of scoring opportunities on “Sunday Night Football,” as the 51.5 total is the largest of all wild card weekend matchups. Neither defense is particularly strong, as the Rams’ defense is ranked the worst of all remaining teams, according to Pro Football Focus.
But Detroit’s secondary is a major issue as well. The Lions’ defense is ranked the fourth worst in terms of coverage among all teams in the NFL on PFF. Expect plenty of scoring this weekend in Rams vs. Lions as we break down the best player props and picks on “Sunday Night Football.” Caesars has an excellent line on David Montgomery’s anytime touchdown scorer props these are all smash hits to target tonight.
Montgomery is third in touchdowns among all running backs in the NFL and is clearly worth betting at these odds. The Lions, who love running inside the five yard line, have two running backs worth betting this weekend. But don’t forget about Montgomery at these long odds this weekend. Tight End Sam LaPorta is listed as questionable but will at least be hobbled if he playa at all.
This projection is way too low in a plus matchup on Sunday. As mentioned, the Lions are one of the worst coverage teams in the NFL. Puka Nacua has cleared this number in four of his last six games and are much too leaky against receivers. Detroit allowed 3,081 yards to opposing receivers, the third most in the NFL behind only the Eagles and Commanders.
But in the last eight weeks, they have been far and away the worst secondary in the NFL. They have allowed 1,650 yards, the most to wide receivers, nearly 200 more than the second most Rams. This one is going to be a shootout, a must bet spot this weekend..
