Officials have confirmed that over 80% of voters participated in the Karanpur assembly election in Rajasthan, where BJP leader Surendra Pal Singh is contending. Vote tallying will occur on January 8 at the Bheemrao Ambedkar Government College in Sriganganagar. The peaceful polling process started at 7 am and ended at 6 pm. There were 199 assembly seats up for election on November 25, with the Karanpur seat election delayed due to the passing of current MLA and Congress nominee, Gurmeet Singh Koonar. In light of this, the Congress put forth Koonar's son, Rupinder Singh, as their candidate. Final participation in the Karanpur constituency was recorded at 81.38%, according to Chief Electoral Officer Praveen Gupta. The constituency has 2,40,826 voters, consisting of 1,25,850 males, 1,14,966 females, and 10 transgender individuals. Having previously won the assembly elections with a 115 out of 199 seats majority, the BJP has incorporated Surendra Pal Singh into the Rajasthan Ministry, an act criticised by Congress as a breach of the election code of conduct. Regulations dictate that Surendra Pal Singh has a six-month timeframe to secure an assembly election victory following his ministerial inauguration.
