Listen to Story Afghanistan cricketer Rahmanullah Gurbaz played a prank on India’s Rinku Singh, giving a glimpse of the camaraderie they share. After the first T20I between India and Afghanistan on January 11 at the PCA Stadium in Mohali, Gurbaz shared the light hearted moment with Rinku. Rinku was asleep on the flight when Gurbaz went and funnily poked in his nose.
Rinku woke up immediately, after which the duo shared a brotherly moment. Rinku and Gurbaz play together for the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and the bonding between them is palpable. The official Instagram handle of KKR uploaded the video with the caption which read, “Classic bhaichara (brotherhood)!” As far as on field assignments are concerned, Gurbaz did not have the best of outings in the first match of the series, which to concede a 0 1 lead to the opposition.
Gurbaz scored 23 runs off 28 balls, and although he hit two fours and one six in his knock, he was hardly able to get on top of the Indian bowlers. It was Axar Patel who brought an end to his misery in the eighth over. Gurbaz, in the meantime, affected the stumping of Shubman Gill and also ran out Rohit Sharma at the striker’s end.
Rinku, on the other hand, kept shining as a middle order batter for the Indian team in T20Is. The left handed batter scored an unbeaten 16 off nine balls with two fours. He also put on a partnership of 42 runs for the fifth wicket with Shivam Dube, who won the Player of the Match award. In 13 T20Is thus far since his debut against Ireland, Rinku has scored 278 runs at an average of 69.50 and a strike rate of 180.52 with a top score of 68 to his name..
