Pooja Meri Jaan – After Four-Year Wait the Thriller Finally Lands on ZEE5

It feels almost cinematic that a movie about a stalker finally gets its own audience after years of hiding. "Pooja Meri Jaan," the thriller starring Mrunal Thakur and Huma Qureshi, has been stuck in development purgatory for close to four years – and now ZEE5 has announced it will finally stream the film.

The project, directed by Navjot Gulati and produced by Dinesh Vijan’s Maddock Films, was originally slated for a direct‑to‑digital launch on JioCinema. When JioCinema folded into Disney+ Hotstar, the rights got tangled, leaving the film in a kind of digital limbo. The makers tried to find a new home, but pricing disagreements and a lack of clear communication stalled the process.

In a candid interview earlier this year, Gulati revealed how personal the delay had become. His father, who passed away in 2024, spent his last months asking when the movie would finally see the light of day. The director also mentioned that co‑producer Amar Kaushik went radio‑silent after October 2025, adding to the sense of abandonment.

Despite the setbacks, the film’s core – a tense exploration of stalking and cyber‑crime – remains intact. Alongside Thakur and Qureshi, the cast includes Vikram Singh Chauhan and the ever‑reliable Vijay Raaz. The screenplay and dialogues were penned by Niren Bhatt, and principal photography wrapped by the end of 2022.

Fans of the two leads have been waiting impatiently, and ZEE5’s decision to add the film to its upcoming slate has sparked a wave of relief. While the platform hasn’t revealed an exact premiere date, the announcement itself feels like a small victory for everyone involved.

“Pooja Meri Jaan” joins a bustling Hindi‑content line‑up on ZEE5, which also includes the biopic series ‘Kambli’, the investigative drama ‘The Scam: Leaked’, and the revived ‘Zee Horror Show’. The streaming giant is also banking on big‑name movies like ‘Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai’ and a Kangana Ranaut‑led ‘Bharat Bhagya Vidhata’.

For Gulati, the hope now is simple: get the film in front of viewers and move on. He even hinted he would buy back the rights if necessary, just to break the stalemate. Perhaps, after all these twists, the story finally gets to unfold the way it was meant to – on screens across India, one streaming night at a time.
