The next era of Pokemon animated series has now been delayed for those in the US. Pokemon Horizons shows the post Ash Ketchum journey of the Pokemon series, and it will now be heading to Netflix for the US on March 7, contrary to its original release date. The series was heading to the US originally on February 23, 2024, which is also known as Pokemon Day.
There wasn’t a reason listed by The Pokemon Company in its update announcement. TPC simply wrote, “Hello, Trainers! Pokémon Horizons: The Series will now premiere on March 7th on Netflix, just a short time later than previously announced.” After Ash’s journey came to an end, this is the first mainline show from the franchise after 25 years.
The show features two protagonists: Liko and Roy. Like Ash had Pikachu, Liko is accompanied by Sprigatito while Roy’s Pokemon is Fuecoco. Ash Ketchum’s journey began in the Kanto region, while our new protagonists’ journey is currently taking place in the Paldea region. Those who’ve played Pokemon Scarlet and Violet on Nintendo Switch would be familiar with that region, since that’s the setting for the games as well.
Those interested in seeing where the Pokemon story is heading next, and what’s in store for them in Pokemon Horizons, can watch the opening 11 minutes of the first episode on Pokemon’s official YouTube channel, and we’ve embedded the video above for you to watch it here as well. When is Pokemon Horizons coming to India? As it stands, the wait will be a bit longer for those in the US.
Pokemon Horizons had debuted in Japan on April 14, 2023. The show is already available for those in the UK since December 2023 via BBC iPlayer and CBBC. From the looks of it, Pokemon Horizons will eventually make its way to India as well, but the wait time for that is going to be even longer. It is also unclear if it will arrive in India via Netflix or not.
It was already known that Netflix has the distribution rights for the US, while broadcast in UK is through BBC..
