One person was killed in a collision late Tuesday on Highway 9 near Range Road 252 near Beiseker. The crash involved a semi truck, its trailer and a passenger car, said Alberta RCMP Cpl. Troy Savinkoff. Officers at the scene reported foggy conditions at the time, he added. The region has been blanketed by fog since Tuesday night, with Environment Canada warning of potentially difficult and hazardous travel conditions.
“Dense fog patches are leading to near zero visibility over some areas,” the weather service said in a statement updated early Wednesday. “Conditions are expected to slowly improve through the day today, though fog will likely reform early this evening in some locations.” Motorists are asked to take to the road with care.
If visibility is reduced, the weather office said, drivers should watch for vehicles ahead and be prepared to stop. More details on the fatal collision near Beiseker, about a 75 kilometre drive from Calgary, are expected to come later..
