Olivia Dunne back in Utah after last year’s scary fan fiasco

Olivia Dunne was all smiles while in Utah this week after last year’s fan incident at the Tigers’ season opener in Salt Lake City , where a massive crowd of screaming male fans showed up to the meet. The LSU gymnastics star shared a series of stunning photos on Instagram that featured her posing outdoors while it was snowing in Park City on Wednesday.

Dunne, who’s in Utah for the Tigers’ second meet of the season on Saturday, sported a black top and pants from Vuori Clothing, the first NIL deal she landed in September 2021, and a black Prada beanie. “Frozen,” the 21 year old wrote over a selfie she posted to her Instagram Story. Dunne, a senior, and the Tigers are set to compete in the Sprouts Farmers Market Collegiate Quad meet on Saturday in West Valley City, which is less than an hour drive from Park City.

Dunne previously said LSU implemented more security measures and a security guard that travels with the Tigers’ gymnastics team following a scary fan incident that took place at their road opener in Salt Lake City last January. After the meet, which Dunne was sidelined for due to injury, a massive crowd of screaming male fans were reportedly chanting, “We want Livvy,” while waiting for her outside the University of Utah.

Other fans showed up to the meet with signs begging Dunne for a photo and follows social media. The Sports Illustrated Swimsuit model snapped selfies with the crowd but was not pictured near the stands. Dunne — who is currently the NCAA’s highest paid female athlete, earning seven figures — has made a number of changes for safety reasons since she rose to fame after starting her social media career on TikTok during the COVID 19 pandemic.

The New Jersey native told NJ Advance Media in November that she no longer attends classes in person after a threat she received on the Baton Rouge campus from an apparent stalker. “I had a scare once with a message that I got about a class I was going to, and I was like, you know what, it’s not worth it,” Dunne said.

“It was a threat. It seemed like they knew where I was at and what class, and I just decided better (to be) safe than sorry.” Dunne received death threats on Instagram on Dec. 2, 2021, from an apparent stalker who threatened to “shoot up” the LSU campus, the paper reported, citing an LSU Police report.

No arrests were made in the case after LSU Police investigated, and Dunne blocked the account on Instagram. Dunne explained that she’s looking forward to enjoying her senior year and wants to help the Lady Tigers win their first NCAA team title in gymnastics. Third ranked LSU beat the No. 14 ranked Buckeyes during its home opener last weekend, when Dunne made her season floor debut at the meet.

The Tigers will face No. 1 Oklahoma, No. 2 Utah and No. 12 UCLA on Saturday, and it will air on ABC..
