The Atlanta Falcons said Monday that they have completed an interview with Bill Belichick for the team's head coaching position. Belichick spent the past 24 seasons as head coach of the New England Patriots, where he led the Patriots to 17 division titles and six Super Bowl Championships. What's next for the Patriots, Bill Belichick? It was Belichick's first interview since parting ways with the Patriots last week.
"Robert (Kraft) and I, after a series of discussions, have mutually agreed to part ways. For me, this is a day of gratitude and celebration," Belichick said . "I'll always be a Patriot," Belichick said. "I look forward to coming back here, but, at this time, we're going to move on." The Falcons fired Arthur Smith at midnight after the final game of the 2023 season.
Falcons owner Arthur Blank said the team would be thorough and patient finding the right individual for the head coaching job, with the aim of getting the hire right and setting the franchise up for a period of sustained success. "There is no timetable," Blank said. "The only timetable is to do this correctly." The Falcons said in a news release it had conducted interviews with five other candidates for the head coaching position, including Baltimore Ravens Defensive Coordinator Mike Macdonald, Cincinnati Bengals Offensive Coordinator Brian Callahan, San Francisco 49ers Defensive Coordinator Steve Wilks, Carolina Panthers Defensive Coordinator Ejiro Evero and Baltimore Ravens Assistant Head Coach/Defensive Line Coach Anthony Weaver..
