Multiple injuries reported after bus departing from Montreal crashes in upstate New York

Multiple injuries are reported after a bus headed from Montreal to New York City rolled over in a single vehicle collision on Friday. New York State Police say in a news release that they are investigating the crash, which occurred on Interstate 87 in Lake George, roughly 260 kilometres south of Montreal.

The bus that crashed belongs to FlixBus, according to a spokesperson for the company. In a statement, Mike Ogulnick said the bus was en route from Montreal to Manhattan and it crashed just before 1 p.m. At this point, there is no additional information available, he said a few hours after the crash, and authorities are on site, conducting a full investigation.

Interstate 87 southbound is closed between Exits 23 and 22, and it is expected to be closed for a long period of time, the police said in a news release. "Drivers are encouraged to find alternate routes," said New York Gov. Kathy Hochul on X, formerly Twitter. "I join New Yorkers in praying for all involved in this horrific incident and am grateful for the heroic efforts of our first responders." I 87 extends from the Canadian border to New York City, serving as the most direct driving route.
