Mitchell Marsh, an all rounder for Australia, was disappointed after he mishandled a delivery on the first day of the third Test match between Australia and Pakistan at the Sydney Cricket Ground. Steve Smith made the catch at second slip after Marsh forced Pakistani skipper Shan Masood to give him an inside edge.
Marsh and the Australian players began to celebrate merrily, but the umpire signalled a no ball. Marsh had a wry smirk on his face and appeared dissatisfied. The all rounder, though, had the final laugh when he defeated Masood ten balls later. Masood got a thick edge, and Smith once more made a simple catch.
On social media, the video suddenly went viral. In the third Test match between Australia and Pakistan at the Sydney Cricket Ground on Wednesday, captain Masood of Pakistan won the toss and elected to play under bright skies. It will be Australia’s opening batsman David Warner’s farewell Test match at the esteemed SCG, as well as his 112th overall.
Nevertheless, Australia gained momentum quickly when Josh Hazlewood and Mitchell Starc removed Saim Ayub, who was making his debut, and Abdullah Shafique in the first two overs. They were unable to open their accounts. After Babar Azam produced three brilliant cover drives to the ropes, Pakistan stumbled to four for two and appeared to be consolidating, but he was dismissed for 26 after the first hour of drinking.
The umpire rejected Cummins’ vehement plea for lbw, but he filed a review and won the decision he was after, leaving the tourists reeling at 39 for three. After taking a hard knock to the collarbone from a Cummins lifter, Saud Shakeel prodded a catch behind to Carey for five in the Australian captain’s subsequent over, putting his side further in the mud at 47 for 4.
Despite being nine wickets down, Pakistan managed to surpass the 250 run barrier in the last session thanks to half centuries from Salman Ali Agha and Muhammad Rizwan. Australia won the second Test in Melbourne over Christmas by a close margin of 79 runs, sealing the three match series..
