Matt Henry returns as New Zealand name 15 member squad for Pakistan T20Is

Listen to Story New Zealand, on Wednesday, January 3, named a strong 15 member squad for their upcoming five match T20I series against Pakistan. Matt Henry, who was due to a hamstring injury, has been included in the squad. The speedster is set to take part in a domestic match on Friday before joining the national team.

Kane Williamson and Devon Conway have also returned after missing the recent series against Bangladesh. However, Williamson won’t play in the third T20I of the series to manage his knee. Rachin Ravindra has been rested after he played in the series against Bangladesh. Fast bowler Lockie Ferguson will also be a part of the last three T20Is of the series.

Finn Allen, Mark Chapman, Conway, Henry, Adam Milne, Daryl Mitchell, Glenn Phillips, Mitchell Santner, Tim Seifert, Ish Sodhi and Tim Southee have been picked for all five T20Is. Gary Stead, the New Zealand head coach, said that the Black Caps need to be on their toes with the T20 World Cup to be played later this year.

“With just three T20I series left before the T20 World Cup, all matches are vitally important for our preparation. Starting the series off at Eden Park (Auckland) on a Friday night will be a great occasion and one I know the team will relish," Stead was quoted as saying.
