Man, two children killed in apparent murder suicide in Routt County

A man and two children died in an apparent murder suicide in unincorporated Routt County south of Steamboat Springs. Routt County Sheriff’s deputies on Saturday responded to a welfare check in the 21000 block of 4th Avenue in Phippsburg, a community about 10 miles south of Steamboat Springs, where they found James “Jake” Hill, 45 a seven year old child and a three year old child dead, according to a news release from the sheriff’s office. Deputies are investigating the deaths as a murder suicide and said there is no danger to the community. The Routt County Sheriff’s Office asked anyone with information about the deaths to contact them.
