HOLLISTER — A man was shot and killed Wednesday at a migrant housing center in Hollister, marking San Benito County’s first homicide of the year, authorities said. The shooting was reported just before 7 p.m. at the Hollister Migrant Housing Center, located at 3239 Southside Road, according to the San Benito County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies arrived to find a man suffering from at least one gunshot wound. The man received medical care but was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said. The coroner’s office will release his identity after it is confirmed and his next of kin is notified. Residents displaced by a recent apartment fire were staying at the housing center at the time of the shooting.
