Yes, a real big cat was recently spotted wandering within the garden’s bounds, and as you can imagine, ensuring the safety of our community immediately shot to the top of the priority list.

The crucial sighting occurred late Tuesday night, setting off a chain of events. By Wednesday morning, after careful consideration, the decision was made to shut down the Forest Garden indefinitely. It’s a precautionary measure, of course, designed to give our dedicated forest department teams the space and uninterrupted time they need to address the situation responsibly and, most importantly, safely for both the public and the animal.

Immediately following the report, the expert teams from the forest department didn’t waste a second. They’ve been diligently at work, deploying specialized trap cages in strategic locations across the garden, all with the hope of gently and humanely capturing the leopard. Alongside these, numerous camera traps have been set up. These aren't just for monitoring; they're essential tools that help track the leopard’s movements, understand its behavior patterns, and ultimately guide a safe capture and subsequent relocation. Typically, they’re just passing through, exploring the edges of their natural habitat that sometimes brush a little too close to our expanding human settlements.
