Ben Luna, a staunch conservative Latino GOP candidate, has taken aim at unseating a Democrat for a Senate seat in New Mexico. Luna, a newcomer in politics, recently told Fox News Digital that he believes Hispanic voters are being blindsided by Democrat strategies that do not align with their core values. As the state director for the New Mexico LEXIT movement over the past year, Luna has worked on programs to inform and encourage Latino Americans with conservative leanings to abandon the Democrat Party. He is confident that Hispanic voters are becoming more aware of how their own principles are clashing with those of the Democrats.
The strategy, Luna suggests, is to alter voters' attitudes, which may change the political color of New Mexico, a state where nearly half the population is Hispanic, to red in the coming November polls. Luna criticizes the Democrats for imposing transgender ideologies in schools, a move he believes is a deal breaker for most parents, but particularly for Latinos and Hispanics.
Polls indicate that Republicans are gradually securing the support of Hispanic voters, a shift that became visible last year. Luna blames Democrats for initiating a relentless push that won't let up until those implementing such policies are ousted.
Luna's plan hinges on reaching Democrat strongholds in Albuquerque and the northern parts of the state. Despite New Mexico being largely considered a safe seat for Democrats, Luna asserts that the outcomes of recent elections indicate a Republican victory is a distinct possibility.
Luna's battle cry centers on issues ranging from transgender ideology being imposed without parental consent to securing the nation's southern border in light of the massive influx of migrants under President Biden's administration. Luna is currently the only key contender for the Republican nomination for the Senate seat and will likely be up against incumbent Democrat Sen. Martin Heinrich in the general elections. The primaries will be held on June 4.
