On Wednesday (January 3), the thrilling trailer of Manoj Bajpayee and Konkana Sensharma's web series, Killer Soup, was launched by the producers. The series, under the direction of Abhishek Chaubey, guarantees a mix of diverse genres. It's loosely based on an actual news headline. The trailer introduces a story full of unpredictability and disarray, inhabited by an assortment of inexperienced villains, heroes, and bystanders in the fictional town of Mainjur. The narrative hints at a combination of comedy, drama, and action as the characters grapple with their evolving roles and circumstances.
Konkana portrays Swathi Shetty, an ambitious chef whose sole desire is for her paya soup to be relished worldwide. Yet, a single unfortunate incident triggers a sequence of mishaps and hurried cover ups involving her and her lover, Umesh, enacted by Manoj Bajpayee, putting them in a pickle. It's quite appealing that Manoj will be playing dual roles. All things considered, the trailer promises an intense, ever-changing plot with various characters, each tackling their obstacles.
Manoj Bajpayee shared the trailer on social media and expressed his thoughts on working on Killer Soup, "I will be playing dual roles, each drastically different from the other, for the first time in my career. Killer Soup is a crime thriller at its core, blending different genres to create a unique, intriguing pot boiler. It was a delight to work with a skillful director like Abhishek Chaubey, Netflix as co-creators, and a brilliant cast."
Konkana Sensharma shared her unique experience playing Swathi Shetty. She says, “Swathi Shetty's character is filled with depth and ambiguity which made it an exceptional experience for me. The combination of Netflix, director Abhishek Chaubey, and gifted co-actors resulted in an enjoyable journey. The suspenseful series is set in an unusual, quirky world which will leave viewers guessing ‘Will she get caught and will the soup boil over?’ I am excited to see how the audience reacts to Killer Soup.”
The web series, premiering on Netflix from January 11, also features Nasser, Sayaji Shinde, Lal, Anbuthasan, Anula Navlekar, and Kani Kusruti in significant roles.
