Kidnapping suspect from Calgary arrested in Edmonton, police still searching for two others

A 23 year old man from Calgary has been arrested in Edmonton on New Year’s Day in connection with a kidnapping that occurred in 2021. Police are still searching for two additional suspects wanted for the crime. Agout Atak Agout is facing 22 charges including kidnapping, robbery, extortion, forcible confinement, assault with a weapon, uttering threats and multiple firearms offences.

He is expected to appear in court on Friday. Agout and two others allegedly kidnapped a woman and subsequently robbed her when she left her residence to meet a friend, police said. During the incident, three armed men entered the woman’s vehicle and confined her to the back seat. The victim was then driven around the city for several hours while the men stole various items belonging to her, including her vehicle.

The woman suffered minor injuries during the robbery. Canada wide arrest warrants have been issued for the other two suspects Eyuel Tamrat, 22, and Bol Atak Agout, 21, who are both from Calgary.
