Kerala's IT sector experienced growth in 2023, recovering from the pandemic. The export revenue of IT companies in Kerala increased, including from government controlled IT parks like Thiruvananthapuram Technopark, Kochi Infopark, and Kozhikode Cyberpark, as well as private IT parks such as Kozhikode UL cyberpark and Muthoot Technopolis.

The export revenue of the IT companies in Kerala have increased remarkably. The export revenue of the government controlled IT parks alone have touched Rs 20,000 crores. The expert revenue is from Thiruvananthapuram Technopark, Kochi Infopark, and Kozhikode Cyberpark . Apart from these, there are several private IT parks in Kerala as well.
This includes Kozhikode UL cyberpark, Muthoot Technopolis in Kochi, Geo Infopark, and Smart City. Government is also planning to establish 20 small IT parks based on 5G technology along the national highway from Kannur to Thiruvananthapuram. Preliminary approval has been granted for establishing IT spaces ranging from 5000 to 50,000 sq.
ft. away from the main three IT parks, utilising the facilities. The Kerala Fiber Optic Network (K FON) initiative which aims to provide affordable, high speed internet access to government offices, educational institutions, and BPL (Below Poverty Line) families, is expected to make Kerala a pioneering state in this regard in the coming years.
The state has surpassed the national average in tele density (128.93%), with 45.72 million telephone subscribers, including 4,42,86,150 wireless subscribers. Kerala’s internet infrastructure remains robust, with 27.44 million internet subscribers. Sreekumar Pillai , Co Founder and Chief Technology Officer, Experion Technologies, opines that the technological landscape has been redefined in 2023, by several groundbreaking innovations that have given new dimensions to various industries.

Prem Kumar Vislawath , CEO and Founder of Marut Drones, said that the government has taken a proactive stance recognizing the significant potential of drone technology in agriculture. “Policy shifts and governmental efforts have provided a boost to startups in this sector, capable of disrupting various multibillion dollar segments and industries.
With a focus on domestic drone manufacturing, India has transformed its agricultural landscape, impacting over 50% of the population dependent on agriculture”, he said.
