Karnataka's Heartbreak: Minister Kharge Surveys Flood Devastation, Pledges Swift Relief for Kalaburagi

In the wake of unrelenting downpours and devastating floods, Priyank Kharge, Karnataka's Minister for Rural Development and Panchayat Raj, IT&BT, embarked on a critical visit to the hardest-hit villages of Kalaburagi district. His mission: to personally witness the widespread destruction and offer a beacon of hope and concrete relief to the thousands whose lives have been upended by nature's fury.

Minister Kharge's tour took him through the submerged landscapes of Shivara, Yelegaon, Savalgi, Kalgurthi, and Chandrampalli, where the true scale of the calamity became starkly apparent.

Fields that once promised bounty now lie ruined under a deluge of water, and homes, the sanctuaries of families, have been severely damaged or completely washed away. The despair was palpable, but the Minister arrived with a clear message of unwavering support from the state government.

Addressing the distraught residents, Kharge unequivocally promised comprehensive assistance, assuring them that every possible measure would be taken to alleviate their suffering.

He immediately directed local officials to prepare an exhaustive report detailing the extent of crop damage and structural losses to houses. This crucial data will form the bedrock of an effective and targeted relief operation.

Emphasizing a multi-pronged approach, the Minister outlined plans for both immediate aid and long-term solutions.

He highlighted the availability of substantial funds from the National Disaster Response Fund (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) to facilitate rapid relief distribution and initiate rehabilitation efforts. Furthermore, acknowledging the recurring nature of such disasters in some areas, Kharge spoke of strategic, permanent relocation plans for vulnerable villages, aiming to shield communities from future catastrophes.
