Marvel Studios may have formally cut ties with actor Jonathan Majors—having pulled the trigger on a press release the and actor basically minutes after he was on charges of reckless assault and harassment on December 18—but that doesn’t mean Disney is entirely out of the Jonathan Majors business.
Which is to say that ABC News has just announced that it’s filmed Majors’ first TV interview since his conviction/firing, which will be premiered on Monday, Jan. 8 on . There’s been heavy interest in Majors’ case and its effects on his then surging career ever since , when news broke that he’d been arrested in New York on accusations of assault.
And while advertisers and other studios jumped ship immediately, Disney (which had been in the process of positioning Majors at the very center of its plans for its new movies, naming one of them literally after one version of his time traveling character) held on to a wait and see approach, waiting and seeing all the way through his prominent appearances in ’s second season, and right up to the moment the convictions actually landed.
(They’re also still sitting on Majors’ movie festival darling , which Disney owned Searchlight picked up after it did well at Sundance, and then once it became clear that a movie in which Jonathan Majors suffers from steroid fueled rages might have some, let’s say, tone problems in the current climate.) Majors has been radio silent since the conviction was handed down two weeks ago; he’s currently awaiting sentencing on the charges, which will begin on Feb.
6. The new interview was conducted by ABC News’ Linsey Davis, and will be re aired, in an extended version, on Monday night, before being distributed in chunks to the wider organization for continued feasting in the days to come..
