John Mulaney and Olivia Munn are finally red carpet official. The couple, who share a 2 year old son named Malcolm , posed in front of a step and repeat for the first time together at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’ 14th Governors Awards in Los Angeles Tuesday. Mulaney, 41, looped dapper in an elegant tux for the Hollywood event, while Munn, 43, wore a stylish, off the shoulder ivory gown with her hair styled down.
While they posed for photographers, the comedian was seen cheekily leaning over to his girlfriend. At one point, he also kissed her hand. The pair were also seen holding hands and lovingly gazing into each other’s eyes as the paparazzi snapped their shots. It’s unclear why Mulaney and Munn waited three years to walk a red carpet together, but their relationship did have a controversial start.
It was revealed in May 2021 that Mulaney had been dating Munn amid his divorce from Anna Marie Tendler, his then wife of six years. The artist had not been taking the split well and said via a rep at the time, “I am heartbroken that John has decided to end our marriage. I wish him support and success as he continues his recovery .” Later that year, Mulaney claimed on “Late Night With Seth Meyers” that he “moved out” of the home he shared with Tendler, 38, in October 2020, and, by the Spring of 2021, he had “met and started to date a wonderful woman named Olivia.” He then announced he and Munn were expecting a baby together.
However, insiders told Page Six in September 2021 that not everyone was buying Mulaney’s timeline . “I don’t think it’s any coincidence that John broke the news of Olivia’s pregnancy the way he did in terms of basically giving a timeline of his past few months — when he moved out of his house, how it was the spring when he fell in love with Olivia,” a celebrity agent previously said.
“It seems to me that he is going to great lengths to dispute the idea that he cheated.” Tendler revealed in an essay she wrote for Elle last year that she suffered from “suicide ideation” leading up to her divorce. For more Page Six you love … “When I was hospitalized for depression, self harm, and severe suicidal ideation in the first two weeks of 2021, the doctors asked me to make a list of my reasons for living,” she wrote in June 2023.
“[My dog] Petunia was the one and only thing on that list. … Petunia and I moved to Connecticut in December 2020, in the wake of my severe mental health breakdown and what appeared to be the impending end of my marriage.” Despite the drama, Mulaney and Munn welcomed their son in November 2021 and have seemingly been going strong ever since.
They often share sweet snaps of their family of three on social media, and Tendler, for her part, has moved on with a New York City chef named Nicholas Tran..
